Estrella Salietti, Pilar Rahola, Xavier Sardà, Benedetta Tagliabue, Bonaventura Clotet, Eduardo Mendoza, Oriol Bohigas, Javier Mariscal … and up to 20 personalities of the cultural and professional elite of Barcelona have joined to sign the ‘Llibre blanc de les terrasses de Barcelona’ which the Restoration Guild presented at the Moragues del Borne Cultural Center.
With a scenario enabled as a terrace, the presentation of the book was attended by personalities such as the former president of the Generalitat, Artur Mas, or the ex-mayor of Barcelona, Xavier Trias, as well as members of the current government, among which was the second lieutenant Jaume Collboni, the Councilor for Architecture, Urban Landscape and Heritage, Daniel Mòdol, and the Councilor for Trade and Markets, Montserrat Ballarín, all three of the PSC.
The ‘Llibre blanc de les terrasses de Barcelona‘ draws the conclusions of the commission of experts created at the request of the Guild of Restoration that was delivered in the municipal government to ask Colau to make the current ordinance of terraces more flexible. “It does not make sense that the City Council continues to apply, and so harshly, a rule that you want to modify,” said Pere Chias, president of the Guild.
A “tailor made dress” for the terraces
The commission has denounced, along the lines expressed by the councilman Mòdol, the excessive “parameterization” of the ordinance and the need for the standard to adapt to the needs of each terrace, both in terms of distances and modifications. As for the schedules, the committee recommends keeping the current ones, until 00.00 on weekdays and until 01.00 on Fridays and festive vigils. They also ask to recover some of the suppressed tables and chairs in 2015 and 2016.
